✨ So… What Exactly Is a HECM?
A Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) is the only reverse mortgage product insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). If you're 62 or older and own your home, a HECM may allow you to convert a portion of your home equity into funds that are generally not taxed as income (your tax advisor can confirm what applies to you). You keep ownership of your home, and no monthly mortgage payments are required.
